Pune: In order to have a safe & peaceful Ganeshotsav in Pune, Pune Police have banned the usage of drones and other flying objects from September 19 to September 29.
Speaking to Pune Pulse, R Raja, DCP (Special Branch), Pune City Police said, “The police department wants all Punekars to enjoy Ganeshotsav without any fear & worry. Hence, to avoid any kind of misuse or nuisance due to flying objects such as drones, etc., the use of all flying objects in the city is banned.”
As per further information shared by R Raja, this decision has been taken in the sense that terrorists / anti-national elements can use drones, remote control, micro-lights, aircraft, and paragliders in their attacks and target VIPs / VVIPs as well as endanger public life on a large scale, destroy public property, and may break law-and-order in Pune Police Commissionerate area.
That means activities of such elements in Pune City Police Commissionerate to prevent possible accidents by drones, and remote control micro-light aircraft paragliders, for which some preventive proactive measures need to be planned.
Hence, the operation of drones, remote control, micro-lights, aircraft, paragliders, paramotors, hand gliders, hot air balloons, etc. is banned for the next 11 days i.e. from 19/09/2023 to 29/09/2023.
Aerial surveillance by the Pune City Police or actions taken with specific permission in writing from the Deputy Commissioner of Police Special Branch, Pune City shall be an exception.
This order shall remain in force from 00:01 am on 19/09/2023 to 23:59 pm on 29/09/2023 in accordance with the Public Ganesh Utsav in Pune City.
Any person violating this order will be punishable under section 188 of the Indian Penal Code, 1860.
