Sukh aur samriddhi aaye jeevan mein, yehi dua hai humari.”
Or a traditional Sanskrit blessing:
“Yamunaayastu Yamena saha bhraata smaritam tatha,
Tasyaiva te kripaayaaham karomi tilakam shubham.”
For aarti, you may chant:
“Aarti teri karoon, bhaiya teri jai jai karoon,
Lambi umar ho teri, sukhi rahe sansaar.”
Significance of Bhai Dooj
Bhai Dooj is rooted in the legend of Lord Yama and his sister Yamuna. On this day, Yamuna welcomed Yama with tilak and a feast, and he blessed her. Since then, the day is believed to protect brothers from obstacles and grant them longevity.
After applying Tilak, the brother must touch the feet of his sister and seek her blessings.
