The much-awaited 18th edition of Bhimthadi Jatra, a celebration of Maharashtra’s rural arts, culture, and sustainable innovation, will take place at the Agriculture Ground, Sinchan Nagar, Pune, from December 20 to 25, 2024.

This year’s event holds special significance as it marks the 25th death anniversary of Padma Shri (Late) Appasaheb Pawar, a pioneering agriculturalist renowned for his revolutionary contributions, including drip irrigation.

Highlights of the Event

  1. Food Stalls:

85 stalls offering authentic Maharashtrian delicacies, including Malvani seafood thalis, Kolhapuri thalis, and a variety of sweet dishes.

  1. Exhibits and Themes:

Around 325 stalls will showcase rural crafts, agricultural innovations, and GI-tagged farming products, all marketed as “residue-free.”

A dedicated agriculture section featuring 25 farmers and their ventures will exhibit fresh farm products like honey and other innovative offerings.

The theme this year is #ShareYourPrivilege, aimed at bridging the gap between urban and rural communities.

  1. Collaboration with Telangana:

Four special stalls will feature Telangana’s traditional handlooms, pickles, spices, and authentic cuisine, enriching the cultural diversity of the Jatra.

  1. Bara Balutedar Section:

A tribute to Maharashtra’s traditional occupational communities with live demonstrations of rural craftsmanship by artisans.

Event Details

Timings: Open from 10 AM to 10 PM on all six days.

Entry Fee: ₹60 per person.

Parking: A 5-acre parking area has been allocated to accommodate visitors.

Organizers’ Remarks

Saee Pawar, curator of Bhimthadi Jatra, emphasized the focus on sustainable and innovative agricultural products while reflecting on last year’s record-breaking attendance of over 1 lakh visitors. She assured that efforts are being made to ensure cleanliness and manage congestion in the parking areas.

Founder Sunanda Pawar highlighted the collaboration with Telangana and the inclusion of the Bara Balutedar section, which underscores the event’s commitment to promoting Maharashtra’s traditional occupations and cultural heritage.

The event promises to be a vibrant confluence of tradition, innovation, and community spirit, drawing visitors from across the region.
