Big Boost for Pune Tourism: Ropeways Coming to 8 Iconic Locations. See details inside
Pune district’s tourism sector is all set for major development. Ropeways will soon be built at eight popular tourist destinations in the district. This project is part of the Central Government’s Parvatmala Yojana, which aims to develop hill areas and promote tourism across India.
The Modi government has been taking several steps to boost tourism since coming to power. Under this new plan, the ropeways will improve access to forts and pilgrimage sites. This is expected to attract more tourists, benefitting the local economy and supporting the district’s overall growth.
According to information received, Maharashtra’s state government has recently approved these ropeway projects. An official order has also been issued to begin the work. The ropeway work will be carried out by National Highways Logistics Management Limited (NHLML), under the guidance of the central government.
The eight locations where ropeways will be built are:
- – Khandoba, Nimgaon (Khed Taluka)
- – Bhimashankar (Khed Taluka)
- – Shivneri (Junnar Taluka)
- – Lenyadri (Junnar Taluka)
- – Darya Ghat (Junnar Taluka)
- – Sinhagad (Pune Taluka)
- – Jejuri (Purandar Taluka)
- – Rajgad (Velhe Taluka)
Out of these, three spots are in Junnar Taluka and two in Khed Taluka. The remaining are spread across Pune, Purandar, and Velha Talukas.
For land acquisition, the government has offered two options. If the land belongs to the Public Works Department (PWD), it will be given to NHLML on a 30-year lease. If the land is private or government-owned, the PWD will acquire it and then hand it over to NHLML.
Once completed, these ropeways will not only increase tourist footfall but also lead to the overall development of these areas. The project promises to boost Pune district’s tourism and economy significantly.
