Boman Irani, one of Bollywood’s finest actors, entered the film industry at the age of 44, proving that age is no barrier to success. With over 60 films to his credit, his journey from humble beginnings to stardom is an inspiration.

Born on December 2, 1959, in a Parsi family in Mumbai, Boman faced challenges early on. His father passed away six months before his birth, leaving his mother to support the family. Boman grew up with his three older sisters, battling dyslexia during his childhood.

After the death of his father, Boman Irani struggled with confidence and turned to singing to improve his speech. Following his performance, the applause he received was recorded, and his mother played an important role in supporting him. Boman listened to the recording multiple times, which greatly helped in boosting his confidence.

He completed high school at St. Mary’s School and pursued a two-year course at Mithibai College to become a waiter. Simultaneously, he helped his mother run a bakery and snacks shop in Mumbai. His mother, Jerbanoo Irani, passed away in June 2021 at the age of 94.

After college, Boman joined the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel, working there for 14 years. Despite having a steady job, he felt unfulfilled. Encouraged by his wife, he explored new avenues. He worked as a waiter in restaurants and sold tea but soon discovered his passion for photography.

Boman started by covering boxing championships and became the official photographer for the Indian Boxing Association and Norway’s boxing team. His iconic shots were captured using a Pentax K1000 camera.

His photography opened doors to acting in low-budget short films, where his performances caught the attention of filmmaker Vidhu Vinod Chopra. This led to his breakout role in Munna Bhai M.B.B.S. as Dr. Asthana, which earned him widespread acclaim.

From waiter to beloved actor, Boman Irani’s incredible journey is a testament to hard work, perseverance, and never giving up on dreams.
