Boy Diagnosed With Typhoid Given Diabetes and Heart Medicines by Doctor in Kalyan, Maharashtra
Mumbai: A 10-year-old boy from Kalyan, suffering from typhoid and pneumonia, was mistakenly given medicines used to treat diabetes and heart problems at a private hospital.
The incident took place at Manomi Multi Speciality Hospital in Aadharwadi Chowk. The child’s prescription had both typhoid medicines and drugs unrelated to his illness, including Sitagliptin Phosphate, Metformin Hydrochloride (for diabetes) and St Sprin 75 (for heart ailments) as reported by NDTV.
The boy’s mother, Ankita Ravi Gaikwad, said she had asked the doctor if the medicines were correct but was told they were. The family later discovered the error when another doctor informed them about the wrong drugs.
The hospital admitted the mistake, saying the doctor handling the case had mixed up prescriptions while attending to another patient. The administration confirmed that the family was later told not to give the wrong medicines.
The boy’s family has said they plan to file a case against the hospital.
