Car flows into nullah near Hills N Dales in Undri

Pune city recorded very high rains yesterday mainly in areas like Dhanori, Lohegaon, Sangamwadi, Vishrantwadi, Yerwada and other parts of Pune. Similar cloud burst was reported in September 2018 too where many vehicles were swept away in the water near Ganga Satellite nullah.


The intensity of the rain was so high that knee deep water was accumulated at many places. A car driver near Hills N Dales society in Undri (Sanskriti school) lost its control due to heavy water flow and swept away in the nullah. Luckily, the car driver saved himself but the car got stuck in the nullah near Sanskriti school in Undri.


Residents of Undri, Rajendra Bhintade, Nivrutti Bandal, Vitthal Bhintade, Sachin Bhintade, Tushar Bhintade, Shrikant Bhintade, Sarpanch Nivrutti Bandal, Avinash Takle, Ajay Kamthe, Omkar Hole, Vijay Kamthe, Deepak Bandal and Dada Kad helped him get out of the car. Fire Brigade and local police were called in for help.

The residents said that the nullah is not closed and hence when heavy rain occurs it starts overflowing. It lacks retaining walls too. It has not been maintained, cleaned too by the PMC. Even last year similar rains had created havoc but there has been no action yet.
