The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will conduct a nationwide webinar on November 20 to explain the new two-board-exam format that will apply to Class 10 students from the 2026 academic year onwards. The session will be streamed live on CBSE’s official YouTube channel and is open to students, teachers, and parents across the country.

Announcing the initiative on X, CBSE stated that the webinar aims to clarify the framework for conducting two board examinations annually as mandated under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The Board also urged all schools, teachers, parents, officials, and stakeholders to attend the session as per the issued guidelines.

The webinar comes amid rising queries from students and schools on how the dual-session board exam system will work, including assessment methods, scheduling, and the process for improvement exams.

The Board stated that the 10 am session is designed to help all stakeholders gain a clear understanding of the new process.

New Two-Board-Exam System Explained

In June 2025, CBSE confirmed that Class 10 students will take two full board exams every academic year beginning 2026.
Exam sessions:

  • First Exam (Mandatory): February–March
  • Second Exam (Optional for Improvement): May

The better score from the two attempts will be reflected on the final marksheet. Students may improve marks in up to three subjects—science, mathematics, social science, or languages. Results for the February–March exam will be released in April, while results for the May exam will be declared in June.

This new system replaces the earlier supplementary exam model and is expected to reduce academic pressure, offer greater flexibility, and provide students a full second attempt within the same academic year.

Early Datesheet Announcement

For the first time, CBSE released the Class 10 and 12 datesheet in October, providing students maximum time for preparation. After issuing a tentative schedule, the final datesheet for CBSE Board Exam 2026 was published a month later. Both Class 10 and Class 12 exams will commence on February 17, 2026.

CBSE has worked closely with the National Testing Agency (NTA) to ensure that exam dates do not clash with JEE Main 2026. Students will also be required to enter their Class 11 registration numbers while filling out JEE Main application forms.

How to Watch the Webinar

The November 20 webinar will be streamed live on CBSE’s official YouTube channel. Students and parents can join through the direct link available on CBSE’s website and official X handle.
