Vaikuntha Ekadashi 2025: Significance
In the Hindu calendar, Vaikuntha Ekadashi falls during the Dhanur solar month. In Tamil traditions, this Shukla Paksha Ekadashi (the waxing phase of the moon) is referred to as Dhanurmasa or Margazhi month. Although Vaikuntha Ekadashi is observed according to the solar calendar, it can occur during either the Pausha or Margashirsha month of the Hindu lunar calendar.
This day holds immense religious and spiritual significance for Hindus. It is celebrated with great joy in temples across South India, particularly at the Tirupati Temple, where many devotees gather to express their gratitude to Lord Venkateswara.
It is believed that those who observe a fast on this Ekadashi with complete devotion and dedication receive blessings from Lord Vishnu and are granted entry into Vaikuntha Dham. They are said to achieve liberation from the cycle of birth and death.
On Vaikuntha Ekadashi, devotees observe a strict fast after taking a vow, ensuring to follow the correct procedures and break their fast on Dwadashi Tithi. They light a lamp and offer various sacred items to Lord Vishnu while seeking his blessings. Chanting mantras and stotrams is essential on this day as a means of requesting divine favor. Additionally, visiting the temple to offer prayers and honor Lord Vishnu is highly encouraged.
Lord Vishnu Mantra:
- 1. Om Namo Bhagvate Vasudevaye..!!
- 2. Hare Ram Hare Ram Ram Ram Hare Hare Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare..!!
- 3. Ram Ram Raameti Rame Raame Manorame Sahastranama Tatulyam Ram Naam Varanane..!!
Importance of Parana Time:
Devotees need to recognize that breaking the fast is just as significant as observing it. It should be done during the Parana time, which is at sunrise or shortly after, according to the Panchang. For those who cannot break their fast in the morning, they have the option to do so after Madhyahna; however, this time is not considered auspicious for breaking the fast.
