To improve the overall travel experience for passengers, Central Railway has announced an increase in the speed of 44 pairs of trains from 110 km/h to 130 km/h on the Daund-Solapur-Wadi section. This enhancement follows significant infrastructure upgrades aimed at reducing travel time and elevating service quality.

An official from Central Railway stated, “Infrastructure upgradation works such as track improvement, Over Head Equipment (OHE) regulation, signaling enhancements, and other technical modifications have been carried out on a war footing. These efforts have enabled us to raise train speeds from 110 km/h to 130 km/h over a stretch of 341.80 kilometers in both UP and Down directions.”

The upgraded speed will apply to 44 pairs of trains, including the LTT-Coimbatore-LTT Express, LTT-Karaikal-LTT Weekly Express, CSMT-Bhubaneswar-CSMT Konark Express, CSMT-Bengaluru-CSMT Udyan Express, Solapur-Hassan-Solapur Express, Pune-Secunderabad-Pune Shatabdi Express, CSMT-Solapur-CSMT Siddeshwar Express, Pune-Solapur-Pune Hutatma Express, LTT-Madurai-LTT Express, CSMT-Chennai-CSMT Express, LTT-Chennai-LTT Superfast Express, Varanasi-Mysuru-Varanasi Superfast Express, Ahmedabad-Yesvantpur-Ahmedabad Superfast Express, CSMT-Hyderabad-CSMT Express, Pune-Bhubaneswar-Pune Superfast Special, Ahmedabad-Chennai-Ahmedabad Humsafar Express, Yesvantpur-Jaipur-Yesvantpur Suvidha Express, CSMT-Solapur-CSMT Vande Bharat Express, Kalaburagi-Bengaluru-Kalaburagi Vande Bharat Express, and Pune-Harangul-Pune Special. The travel times for these trains are expected to decrease with the upcoming timetable revision.

An official highlighted the advantages, stating, “The increased speed will shorten travel times, allowing passengers to arrive at their destinations more quickly. This means significant time savings, greater productivity, and economic advantages. Faster trains will also enhance passenger satisfaction by offering a more efficient and comfortable travel experience.”

Additionally, faster trains have environmental benefits. “Lower fuel consumption reduces greenhouse gas emissions and minimizes the carbon footprint, supporting sustainability goals. This initiative will also boost Central Railway’s competitiveness by attracting more passengers and expanding market share,” the official added.

According to CR, the speed improvements were made only after thorough safety inspections and compliance with all regulations, including both temporary and permanent speed limits.
