Young Liu, CEO and Chairman of Taiwan’s technology giant Hon Hai Technology Group (Foxconn), was honoured with the Padma Bhushan on Thursday.

Foxconn is the world’s largest electronics manufacturer and a leading global science and technology solutions provider with its focus in India.

Who is Young Liu ?

According to Foxconn’s official website, Liu is a recognized entrepreneur and innovator with over four decades of industry experience. He founded a total of three companies so far including a motherboard company called Young Micro Systems in 1988 and Northbridge and Southbridge IC Design Company in 1995 which focused on PC chipsets. Then in 1997, he founded ITE Tech and ADSL IC design company ITX.

In a strategic move that may unsettle China, Young Liu, the CEO and Chairman of Taiwan’s tech giant Hon Hai Technology Group (Foxconn), has been honored with the Padma Bhushan by the Indian government.

Foxconn, a global electronics manufacturing leader, has been expanding its presence in India, particularly in semiconductor manufacturing.

Liu, a seasoned entrepreneur and innovator with over four decades of industry experience, played a pivotal role in relocating Foxconn’s semiconductor manufacturing plant from China to India.

This decision is significant as Foxconn produces crucial components for Apple, contributing to the “Make in India” initiative and bolstering India’s position in the global tech supply chain.

The Padma Bhushan recognition for Young Liu reflects India’s acknowledgment of his contributions to fostering business ties between India and Taiwan.
