Pune: The surge in the number of passengers combined with the heightened security measures and the disruption caused by the glitch in the DigiYatra facility led to total chaos at Pune airport over the long weekend in the run-up to Independence Day.

A Twitter user & stranded passenger at Pune airport, Sathiyamoorthi, expressed his frustration by tweeting ‘What is the point in having DigiYatra at Pune airport if it’s not functioning? What if a passenger has reached the airport just in time assuming it’s working? An attempt to reach the Director’s office was not attended to. Neither there was anyone at the help desk.’

As per information received, travellers were left in the lurch as DigiYatra malfunctioned, leading to long check-in lines over the weekend. On Sunday, August 13, Pune airport operated its highest number of flights in a single day, with 98 flights departing from the airport and 98 flights arriving at the airport. This resulted in huge footfall at a relatively small airport.

A senior official of Pune airport speaking on the condition of anonymity said that due to high passenger traffic and some technical problems, DigiYatra is currently not functional. However, Pune airport officials have assured that they will fix the problem soon.
