Tragedy Strikes Rajgad Fort : Tourist’s Drowning Death in Padmavati Water Tank

A leisure trekking expedition turned tragic as a tourist lost his life due to drowning in the Padmavati water tank on Rajgad Fort. The incident unfolded in the early hours of Tuesday (15th August) when a group of friends had gathered for an adventurous outing on the fort.

According to available information, the unfortunate event occurred at Rajgad Fort, located in the Velhe taluka of Pune district. The victim has been identified as Ajay Mohanan Kallampara, a 33-year-old resident of Bhiwandi, Thane, and an employee of Tata Consumer Products Limited Company.

Accompanied by three friends, Ajay had set out to explore Rajgad Fort, seeking an enjoyable day of trekking and camaraderie. However, tragedy struck when Ajay, while attempting to fetch water from the Padmavati water tank on the fort’s premises, lost his balance and fell into the tank. Regrettably, he couldn’t swim to safety and drowned in the tank. His lifeless body was later recovered from the water tank after a considerable period of time.

This heart-wrenching incident serves as a somber reminder of the importance of caution and safety during recreational activities, emphasizing the need for awareness and preparedness, even in seemingly benign surroundings. The unexpected turn of events has cast a shadow over what was meant to be a day of leisure, underscoring the potential risks that can arise in outdoor adventures.
