Tension gripped passengers aboard an Akasa Air flight from Bengaluru to Delhi when an intoxicated traveller disrupted the journey before takeoff, refusing to sit down and sparking a scene that delayed departure.

A short video clip of the episode, shared on X by Karnataka Portfolio, captures the unsettling moment. With everyone else buckled in and ready for takeoff, the visibly drunk man began arguing, shouting, and defying the cabin crew’s repeated requests to take his seat.

“The crew handled it so calmly (huge respect), but the chaos was unreal,” read the caption accompanying the viral post. “People recording, some laughing, some annoyed, some just silently praying for takeoff. Eventually, the situation was sorted, but it’s crazy how one person can delay an entire flight full of people.”

As the footage spread across social media, viewers questioned how such an incident could occur under airport security and airline checks. One concerned user wrote, “Liquor is not sold on domestic terminals. If this guy came so drunk, what was CISF doing to allow him to cross security if drunk passengers are not allowed on domestic flights?” Another pointed out, “The crew at the door is not just there to welcome you. They are trained to deny entry to any passenger who could be a risk. He should not have been allowed to board.”

Many demanded stricter actions against the unruly traveller, urging authorities to enforce lasting penalties. One comment read, “Suggest to blacklist the passenger from air travel permanently.” Another added, “A person has to be troubled or in a mood for trouble to create a scene like this. Hope he gets on a no-fly list for a year so he can mull over his actions thoroughly.”

Responding to the uproar, an Akasa Air spokesperson confirmed the disturbance occurred on flight QP 1599 on October 20, 2025. The airline stated that its crew acted swiftly and professionally in line with established safety procedures to ensure the comfort and security of all passengers. The spokesperson reaffirmed Akasa Air’s firm stance, saying the carrier maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward any form of unruly or disruptive behaviour onboard.
