A child was caught by people in Hadapsar who was begging near Noble Hospital Chowk who faked burn marks on his hand.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Arshad Sayyed, Resident of Hadapsar, said “While going to my office, I used to notice some people near the Noble Hospital Chowk begging, with some kids trying to get money by showing burn marks on their hands. I ignored them at first. However, I saw some people who caught the kids. When I saw that scenario, I realized that they are the same kids begging at the signal at Noble Hospital Chowk. At that time, I realized that the kids are scamming by faking the burn injuries. There are not only these kids, but a lot of people as they are running a big gang like this. They said that they stay in Daund & come here to beg & scam people by such acts. For the first time, I saw a mobile phone with a beggar.”

Arshad Sayyed further continued “When we saw the burn marks closely, we realized that these are not real burn marks. We asked them to show the truth and insisted upon them removing the fake burn injuries. When we consistently demanded to remove the fake burn marks, they agreed and admitted that they do such things. Hence, I thought of raising this.”

Yogesh Sasane, Ex-Corporator, PMC from Hadapsar said “Beggars often use such tricks to get money. But these beggars wont get any money then even to survive. We shall still conduct a survey and find a way out to support them financially, so that they dont fake such ailments to get money from people. We shall also warn them to not indulge in such acts.”
