Citizens raise voice against unauthorised cutting of Baner hill

Baner’s survey Number 13, 14, 15,16,17 in the past few months has seen severe dumping of debris and garbage by miscreants. Apart from dumping waste, today alert citizens of the area found unauthorised hill cutting too.
A citizen informed Pune Pulse, “In the approved DP Plan it shows that an 18 meter road is planned. In the year 2019, PMC and Smart City had jointly decided to make this road. While the work for carving out a road was underway, environment lovers found that a major part of the hill was being cut. The citizens brought the matter to the notice of the PMC and Smart City office then. A meeting was held among citizens, PMC and Smart City officials, at Bhimsen Joshi auditorium. It was also decided that a road shall be constructed without harming the hill under 14/4 HG and section 210, wherein a road of 9 meter or 12 meter wide can be made.”

Even today, on August 24, 2021 residents of the area found that unauthorised activity of digging the hill with help of JCB and Pokelain. While the residents questioned the people allegedly cutting the hill they could not give satisfactory answers.

Residents of Aundh, Baner, Balewadi have demanded an enquiry into the matter and also informed that a case should be filed against those working without any permission.
