Dahi Handi, a significant cultural event, involves filling a clay pot with yogurt, butter, and other dairy products. Participants then form a human pyramid to reach the pot and break it.
This tradition represents Lord Krishna’s playful nature and innocence, as well as his fondness for butter and curd. The Dahi Handi celebrations commemorate the time when young Krishna would steal and eat the curd that was hung out of reach.
According to the Hindu calendar, Lord Krishna, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu, was born on the eighth day of the month of Bhadra. This date usually falls in August or September in the Western calendar.
