Clock ticking: PCMC says pay property tax or stare a sealed house

The tax department of Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation has issued a notification recently addressing residents, especially those who have not paid the property tax.

As per the notification issued by the PCMC, those houses will be sealed where the house owners have not paid even 30% of the property tax, so far.  

The notification also said that the flat owners and society chairman should take care of the same.

House owners have time till July 1st to clear their property tax dues.

“Till now, a total of 1,43, 487 people have paid the property tax out of which 96,600 people have paid it online while remaining 46,887 people have paid tax via cheque and cash,” said Nilesh Deshmukh, Assistant Commissioner, Property tax department PCMC.

A total revenue of Rs 178 crores and 53 lakhs have been generated, so far.

The notification also appealed to the people to pay the tax online by June 30 to receive a 15% concession while those who are paying offline by visiting the PCMC office will get a 10% concession.

There are close to 5,80,000 property owners in the PCMC and 4,30,000 are yet to pay the property tax.

“We urge people to pay tax at the earliest otherwise PCMC will have to take action,” added Deshmukh.
