Mumbai: Maharashtra reported 43 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday, bringing the state’s active case tally to 209. Mumbai continued to report the highest number of daily infections, with 35 new cases, followed by eight in Pune district.

Health officials confirmed that all current cases are exhibiting only mild symptoms. Since January, the state has conducted 7,389 COVID-19 tests, of which 300 samples have returned positive.

Doctors have urged the public not to panic, stating that COVID-19 is now behaving like a seasonal viral infection. They added that the majority of patients are recovering without complications.

Four COVID-positive individuals with pre-existing health conditions have died since May 18. Authorities clarified that the primary cause of death in all these cases was the underlying illness, not the virus itself.

As of Sunday, the state’s daily tally showed a slight decline from Saturday’s 47 reported cases.
