The fraud came to light when the company noticed discrepancies in the charge bank requests submitted by various banks starting from July 3, 2024. Upon investigation, it was discovered that the Aadhaar card photos and live photos used in the Know Your Customer (KYC) documents to lease Bajaj Pay EDC devices were different, leading the Cyber Police to track down the suspects.
Following orders from senior officers, a team from the Cyber Cell, including officers Sima Mundhe, Atul Lokhande, Saurabh Ghate, Pritam Bhalerao, and Priya Vasave, was dispatched to Jodhpur, Rajasthan, where Dhanshyam Chatarwal was arrested. During interrogation, Chatarwal confessed to the crime, revealing the involvement of his accomplice, Naurtan Singh, who was subsequently arrested in Pune.
The arrests were made under the leadership of Police Commissioner Vinay Kumar Choubey, along with Deputy Commissioners of Police Dr. Shashikant Mahavarkar and Sandeep Doifode, and Assistant Commissioner Vishal Hire. The investigation is ongoing, and the accused are currently in police custody.
