DCP Traffic Pimpri Chinchwad Announces Alternate Traffic Routes Ahead of Girder Work at Chandani Chowk

Pune: As the girder work at Chandni Chowk will commence soon, Kakasaheb Oghe, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Pimpri Chinchwad has announced alternate routes in order to facilitate the smooth movement of traffic on the Pimpri Chinchwad side.
According to information, the bridge and road renovation work is going on by the Government of India, NHAI and NCC for the last 8 months at Chandani Chowk. The main girder work will also be done soon. Hence, to ensure safe and smooth traffic in Pimpri Chinchwad city, under Sections 115, 116 (1) (a) (b), 116(4) and 117 of the Motor Vehicles Act, the following alternate routes would be operational until the said work is completed:
- Heavy traffic coming from Mumbai will be stopped at Talegaon toll plaza on Mumbai Pune Expressway and Somatne toll plaza on Mumbai Pune Old Highway
- Four-wheeler light vehicles coming from Mumbai Pune Expressway and Mumbai Pune Old Highway will be diverted to Katraj via Bhujbal Chowk, Rajiv Gandhi Bridge and Chandani Chowk Viva Hotel
- Between Mumbai Pune Expressway, Mumbai Pune Old Highway and Kiwale Bridge to Radha Chowk, traffic has been planned in such a way that incoming heavy vehicles are allowed to pass through Bhujbal Chowk, Rajiv Gandhi Bridge
From July 4 to July 15 2023, the above orders will be effective from 12.30 AM to 3.30 AM. The police have requested people to use alternative routes and cooperate with the officials.
