Mumbai, January 2, 2025 –
The Mahavitaran Amnesty Scheme 2024, initiated for residential, commercial, and industrial electricity consumers whose connections were permanently disconnected due to outstanding bills, has been extended until March 31, 2025. Under this scheme, consumers can avail of a waiver on interest and late payment fees by clearing dues within the extended period.
Announcing the extension, Mahavitaran’s Chairman and Managing Director, Lokesh Chandra, urged consumers to take advantage of this opportunity. However, Mahavitaran has clarified that no further extensions will be granted beyond the deadline, and legal action will be taken against defaulters.
Key Details of the Scheme:
- – Consumers can pay 30% of the principal outstanding and settle the remaining 70% in six installments.
- – A one-time payment discount of 10% for low-voltage consumers and 5% for high-voltage consumers.
- – Online registration and payment available via the Mahavitaran website and mobile app.
As of now, 93,848 consumers have benefited from the scheme, contributing ₹130 crores in payments while receiving ₹57.36 crores in interest waivers and ₹2.12 crores in late fee waivers.
Legal Obligations:
As per the Supreme Court’s ruling, property owners or occupants must clear outstanding electricity dues to avoid legal action. Mahavitaran has encouraged consumers to act promptly and benefit from the scheme to restore their connections worry-free.
