Raj Thackeray’s Call to Action: Strengthening the Fight for Marathi Identity and Social Justice in 2025

Raj Thackeray Warns School Principals Against Hindi Imposition, Says It Undermines Marathi
Raj Thackeray, President, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena shared a post on his X handle yesterday.
First and foremost, I extend my best wishes for the New Year! This year holds special significance in the timeline as it marks the near completion of a quarter-century in this century. The changes over these 25 years have been so profound that life 25 years ago feels like an entirely different era.
During this time, our party, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena, was founded, stabilized, and faced numerous highs and lows, teaching us invaluable lessons.
While much has changed in these 25 years, many issues persist—Marathi people still feel insecure in Mumbai, the capital of Maharashtra. Young men and women struggle to find employment, while outsiders seem to grab job opportunities. Casteism divides communities, farmers and laborers are crippled by inflation, and people remember our party in times of crisis but forget us at the polls.
However, we must accept these realities and move forward with renewed resolve. After the state assembly election results on November 23, 2024, I refrained from making political statements while participating in public events. I have been reflecting on the outcomes and will soon share my thoughts in detail. But I urge all Maharashtra soldiers to move on from the past.
In the weeks following the election results, Marathi people faced oppression, and there was a strong expectation for the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena to act decisively—and we did. It has become evident that Marathi people are used only for votes. Meanwhile, atrocities against women are on the rise, communities within the Marathi-speaking population are clashing, and inflation continues to burden the masses.
In such times, Maharashtra soldiers must set aside their grievances. We do not act with elections in mind, but now, action is our responsibility. As I have said before, if there is an attack on Marathi identity, I will stand as a Marathi; if there is a threat to Hindus, I will respond as a Hindu—and we are doing this.
However, we must also address other pressing issues. Start a dedicated helpline at party offices for women facing harassment. If complaints are ignored, pursue them. If nothing improves, take bold action against the culprits.
To combat inflation, ensure hoarding does not occur and notify relevant authorities if it does. Simultaneously, strive to bridge the gap between farmers and consumers. Reopen our party branches and offices to the public.
And while using social media to promote our work, ensure it does not control or overpower us.
I will soon share a more detailed roadmap. Until then, best wishes for the New Year and for our renewed commitment to work! https://x.com/RajThackeray/status/1874301325627777170?t=PhygWhYO_NB27QiPavCKzQ&s=19
