Pune: To expedite the deemed conveyance process, the State Cooperation Department has lowered the number of documents housing societies must submit.

This is done in consideration of the fact that a number of the state’s registered cooperative housing societies do not currently have deemed conveyance or ownership of land.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, an official of the District Deputy Registrar, Pune, requesting anonymity said, “Earlier, for deemed conveyance, a lot of different types of documents were mandatory to submit due to which co-operative societies had to face hassles. Hence, the state government has taken this decision to reduce the number of documents for deemed conveyance. A committee was formed which studied everything about this & submitted a report. The decision to streamline the procedure of deemed conveyance was taken by the state government on June 22, 2018. So now, only 8 types of documents have been made mandatory for deemed conveyance procedures.”

The official further added, “In Pune, according to the March 2023 data, 20,655 co-operative housing societies are there. Out of these, deemed conveyance doesn’t apply to 2,505 co-operative housing societies as they are constructed on government land or MHADA societies etc.

Deemed conveyance of 4,610 co-operative housing societies in Pune has been done so far. Hence, the deemed conveyance process of 13,540 co-operative housing societies in Pune is remaining.”

As per further information shared by the Pune District Deputy Registrar official, earlier, in 2016, 12 types of documents were mandatory for deemed conveyance. As per the decision of June 22 2018, the documents have been reduced to 8.
