The Delhi-Dehradun Expressway, a major infrastructure project, is set to transform travel between Delhi and Dehradun by reducing the journey time from 6.5 hours to just 2.5 hours. The expressway, spanning 210 kilometres, is expected to be fully operational by February 2025, bringing significant benefits to commuters, tourists, and businesses alike.
The Delhi-Dehradun Expressway is part of the ambitious Bharatmala Pariyojana, a nationwide infrastructure initiative aimed at boosting connectivity. The expressway begins from the iconic Akshardham Temple in Delhi and traverses through major districts, including Baghpat, Shamli, and Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh, before culminating in Dehradun, Uttarakhand.

The construction of the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway is divided into four phases:

- Route: Akshardham Temple (Delhi) to Baghpat (Uttar Pradesh)
- Length: 32 kilometres

- Phase 2:
- Route: Baghpat to Saharanpur
- Length: 118 kilometres
- Status: Under construction; certain sections are already in use
- Phase 3:
- Route: Saharanpur to Ganeshpur
- Length: 40 kilometres
- Status: Under construction
- Phase 4:
- Route: Rajaji National Park to Dehradun
- Length: 20 kilometres
- Special Feature: Includes a 12-kilometre elevated wildlife corridor and a 340-meter tunnel

Toll System and Anticipated Prices
The Delhi-Dehradun Expressway will feature a distance-based toll system, ensuring commuters pay only for the distance travelled. While specific toll prices are yet to be announced, it is confirmed that the first 18 kilometres between Akshardham Temple and Loni will remain toll-free.
