Devendra Fadnavis to Become Maharashtra Chief Minister; Swearing-In on Thursday
The BJP leadership has finalized Devendra Fadnavis as the next Chief Minister of Maharashtra. The decision was made during a key meeting on Wednesday, ending an 11-day suspense following the Mahayuti alliance’s victory in the state elections. Fadnavis will take the oath of office on Thursday.
BJP’s Maharashtra president Chandrashekhar Bawankule confirmed that the swearing-in ceremony will take place at 5 PM at Azad Maidan in Mumbai. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to attend the event.
Alongside Fadnavis, Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde is likely to be appointed as Deputy Chief Minister, with NCP leader Ajit Pawar also joining the cabinet in the same capacity.
At the BJP meeting, Fadnavis’s candidature was proposed by Vijay Rupani, who served as the party’s observer in Mumbai, and was unanimously supported by senior leaders, including Sudhir Mungantiwar and Pankaja Munde.
