Indian cinema woke up to a profound sense of loss as legendary actor Dharmendra, one of Bollywood’s most beloved icons, passed away on Monday, November 24, in Mumbai at the age of 89. Generations grew up watching him on screen — and now, in the days following his demise, fans have been revisiting a tender moment he shared not long ago. His last Instagram post, once a simple festive wish, has transformed into an emotional keepsake for millions mourning his departure.

In what has now become his final message to the world, Dharmendra had posted a short video during Dussehra last month. Seated comfortably in a golf cart and surrounded by familiar faces from his staff, the actor greeted his followers with his trademark warmth and humility.

He said “Tamaam bhai behno ko, bachche bachiyon ko, Dusshera ki shubhkamnaye. Bhagwan aapko lambi sehat de, khushiyan de, aur ab aap naye ban ke rahe, tab toh tarraki hi tarraki hai.”

(Translation: “Wishing all brothers, sisters, boys and girls a happy Dussehra. May God bless you with long life and happiness, and if you live renewed, then progress will only follow.”)

The post, uploaded in October, has since turned into a space filled with heartfelt comments, memories, and condolences. His children had responded to the video when it was first shared — Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol with simple heart emojis, and Esha Deol expressing her love with “♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️🧿”.

Dharmendra’s passing comes heartbreakingly close to what would have been his 90th birthday on December 8, 2025. His career, stretching over six memorable decades, remains one of the most versatile chapters in Bollywood’s history — from iconic romantic roles and emotionally rich dramas to action-packed hits and unforgettable comedies. His journey wasn’t just about films; it was about an era he helped define.

He leaves behind a large and loving family, including wives Hema Malini and Prakash Kaur, and his children Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, Vijeta, Ajeeta, Esha, and Ahana Deol.

What was once a simple festival greeting has now turned into Dharmendra’s last blessing to those who adored him. His message — gentle, affectionate, and filled with goodwill — captures the essence of who he was: a star who remained forever grounded, and a man whose heart was as big as his legacy.

Even in his final Instagram post, Dharam ji left his fans with exactly what he gave throughout his life — love, warmth, and prayers for their happiness.
