Diwali 2023 : PMC’s 29th Killa Making Competition & Exhibition to begin from Nov 9  

On behalf of the Pune Municipal Corporation, the garden department and Tree Authority, since 1992, castle (killa) competitions have been organized on the occasion of Diwali. 

Due to increasing urbanization and changes in living conditions, there is insufficient space available for children to build forts. However, the Pune Municipal Corporation aims to provide space for children to re-study the precious forts that are there, to create interest in children, to increase interest in history and geography, and to give scope to the talents of school students.

As per further information from a press release by PMC Garden Department, this competition is organized every year. This year also, the 29th Killa Competition and Exhibition will be held from 9/11/2023 to 19/11/2023 at Sambhajiraje Udyan, Jungli Maharaj Road, Shivajinagar, Pune.

A large number of contestants have participated in the castle competition this year. The forts of the said competition will be examined by history and geography experts.

The winners of the Killa competition in every division will be awarded Rs 5001/- and second place Rs 3001/- and third place Rs 2001/- will be given. The winner of the entire Killa competition will be awarded a special prize of Rs 7001/-

The competition will be inaugurated on 9/11/2023 at 4:00 pm & that day’s prize distribution ceremony of successful contestants will be held at 4:30 pm.

Inauguration and prize ceremony of this program will be done by Pune Municipal Commissioner and Administrator and Chairman of Tree Authority, Additional Municipal Commissioner (J), Additional Municipal Commissioner (V) and Additional Municipal Commissioner (E) of the Pune Municipal Corporation will be present.

Also, in this program, the website of Rajiv Gandhi Zoo and Wildlife Research Center and online ticket booking computer system will be inaugurated.

In the exhibition, exact replicas of several forts like Suvarnadurg, Vijaydurg, Rajgad, Sinhagad, Shaniwarwada, Pratapgad, Shivneri, Lohgad, Torna, Anturgad, Sajjangad, Sindhudurg, Korigad, Paranda, Malhargad, Janjira, Purandar etc have been created.

In the exhibition, citizens will get to see various forts in Maharashtra to know more about the forts, maps of the forts, slogans based on the forts and the environment etc.

The said exhibition is on 9/11/2023 at 4:00 pm. It will be open for public viewing free of charge till 19/11/2023.
