Pimpri Chinchwad is being recognised and developed as Smart City. But citizens, mainly children, senior citizens of the twin town are grappled with stray dog menace.

Also several stray animals are abandoned on the city streets left without proper food and medicines. But despite this the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation has not been able to formulate any policy to secure lives of these animals as well as ensure that there are no dog bite cases.

Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation deputy mayor Keshav Gholave has written a letter to Shravan Hardikar urging him to establish a stray animal shelter. He said that open area near Sadguru Nagar near old garbage depot in Bhosari is ideal to set up a rescue center. Gholave said that stray animals can be rescued and kept at this shelter for their better further treatment. PCMC must take immediate action and resolve the issue of stray dogs by setting up a rescue center.
