Electricity supply of over 20k consumers discontinued over non-payment of electricity bills arrears

Due to non-payment of electricity bills despite repeated appeals, 15 lakh 74 thousand 580 electricity consumers in the domestic, commercial and industrial categories in Western Maharashtra have arrears of Rs 310 crore 17 lakh. Out of this, most of the domestic 13 lakh 98 thousand 449 customers have Rs 218 crore 30 lakh, commercial 1 lakh 52 thousand 900 customers have 62 crore 9 lakh and industrial 23 thousand 231 customers have arrears of Rs 29 crore 78 lakh. Therefore, the recovery campaign has been speeded up by Mahavitaran and the electricity supply of these defaulters is being cut off.

As per further information from MSEDCL, meanwhile, due to arrears of electricity bills, electricity supply to 20 thousand 328 households, commercial and industrial arrears in western Maharashtra has been cut off in the last 25 days. This includes Pune district- 11,182 Satara- 1823, Solapur- 6008, Kolhapur- 2094 and 2776 defaulters of Sangli district.

In the Pune regional division, the present status of household, commercial and industrial customers (customers in bracket) Pune district- 198 crore 3 lakh rupees (7,76,498), Satara- 22 crore 2 lakh rupees (1,86,479), Solapur- 49 crore 06 lakh rupees (2,53,939), Kolhapur- 20 crores 33 lakhs (1,77,938) and Sangli district has arrears of Rs 20 crores 73 lakhs (1,79,726).

Due to non-payment of electricity bills by the arrears, action has been taken to disconnect the electricity supply. Now action is being taken to disconnect the electricity supply as per the rules without looking at the amount due. Also, verification of electricity connections which have been disconnected due to arrears is being carried out by separate teams. If it is found that unauthorized power supply is taken from other places, action is being taken as per rules.

Electricity bill payment center open on Saturday and Sunday

In order to facilitate the payment of current and overdue electricity bills to the electricity consumers of Pune, Kolhapur, Sangli, Satara and Solapur districts, the official electricity bill payment center of Mahavitaran will be open on public holidays on Saturday (30th December) and Sunday (31st December).

Along with this, electricity consumers can make unlimited electricity bill payments online anytime and anywhere through the website www.mahadiscom.in as well as mobile app of Mahavitaran. Apart from this, Mahavitaran has provided the facility of payment through RTGS or NEFT to all small pressure customers with bills above Rs 5000.
