EV charging station in Baner inaugurated

Electric vehicles are the need of the hour said Nitin Raut, energy minister for state in Pune at the inauguration ceremony of electric vehicle charging station held in Baner on April 4. 

With the fuel prices rising everyday it has become difficult for common man to meet his expenses. The only affordable and environment friendly option is of electric vehicles which will save money as well as help in conserving the nature. 

Maharashtra state electricity distribution company has become the nodal agency of the state government for setting up electric charging stations to boost the Infrastructure for electric vehicles. 

MSEDCL plans to set up 50 electric vehicles charging stations in the state in near future. The first Electric charging station was inaugurated in Baner at the hands of Dr Nitin Raut, energy minister for state, MSEDCL projects Prasad Reshme, Executive director Kishor Pardeshi, Pune regional director Sanjay Marudkar, Chief Engineer Sachin Talewar, Chandramani Mishra, Uttamrao Zalte and Sumedha Nitin Raut. 

The state government to boost the use of electric vehicles has announced subsidy on buying of these vehicles ranging from Rs 10,000 to Rs 20 lakhs. Also, all electric vehicles will be waived off road tax. 

Prasad Reshme said that MSEDCL will ensure smooth processing of giving electricity connections to such stations. A separate single window web portal will be launched soon. Over 50 such stations will be installed by MSEDCL across the state with 18 in Pune, 10 in Mumbai, 6 in Thane, 2 each in Nashik, Aurangabad, Solapur, Kolhapur and Amravati, 6 in Nagpur.
