Factory making fake Gutkha raided, three arrested in Maharashtra

Nashik, Sep 4: Three persons were arrested and goods worth lakhs of rupees were seized by the Maharashtra police in Nashik district during a raid in a factory making Gutkha, which is banned in the state, an officer said on Sunday. 

The factory at Eklahare under Nashik Road police station was being run in defiance of government orders. Assistant Police Inspector Ganesh Shelke of Nashik Road Police Station got a tip-off that fake Gutkha was being made in an old house in front of Matruchaya Farm House in Samangaon near Eklahare Thermal Power Station. 

The police then conducted a raid on Saturday and confiscated fake items worth lakhs of rupees. Among them, Gutkha making machines as well as labels bearing the names of various chemical companies and fake raw materials for making Gutkha have been seized.
