Pune: The Chakan area is experiencing rapid industrial growth, accompanied by extensive residential development. Consequently, it has become a densely populated location with a significant presence of working-class entrepreneurs and the transportation of goods on a large scale.

The issue of traffic congestion at Talegaon Chowk and Ambethan Chowk in Chakan has escalated to a critical level. The resulting delays have caused significant disruptions to the daily routines of industrial employees, leading to decreased productivity. The Industrial Associations have brought this matter to the attention of the government in hopes of finding a solution to this pressing problem.

Divisional Commissioner Saurabh Raoh attended the meeting held on Monday, October 23, 2023, to discuss potential solutions.

Attendees included Vinay Kumar Chaubey, Commissioner of Police, Pimpri Chinchwad, Dr Rajesh Deshmukh,  Collector Divisional Commissioner Saurabh Rao, Chief Executive Officer MIDC, General Manager Regional Traffic Officer, Pimpri Chinchwad Deputy Commissioner, Pimpri Chinchwad, Divisional Commissioner Khed, representatives of National Highways, Public Works Department officer, and Secretary of Federation of Chakan Industry Dilip Batwal Treasurer Vinod Jain, Sarang Joshi of Mercedes-Benz, Deepak Karan, President, MCCIA Deepak Karandikar and representatives from various organizations.

The meeting resulted in several decisions being made, including the extension of ST bus stops at Talegaon Chowk and Ambethan Chowk by 100 meters, the relocation of the labour base at Talegaon Chowk, the removal of encroachments in the surrounding areas within the next seven days, and the implementation of measures to prevent water accumulation on the road.

Additionally, it was decided that a structural audit of the bridge near the police station at Mahalunge would be conducted, and immediate repairs would be made to avoid any potential accidents.

Dilip Batwal, secretary, Federation of Chakan Industries said, “A decision was made to conduct a survey of the road and implement the suggestions provided by the concerned Police Administration, MSEDCL, Federation of Chakan Industries, MCCIA, and Municipal Corporation to efficiently address the traffic issue on Friday, October 27, 2023.”
