A disturbing incident of violence against a female doctor has come to light at Lokmanya Tilak Hospital (Sion Hospital) in Mumbai. The doctor was allegedly assaulted by a drunken patient and his companions on Sunday morning.

According to police, the patient, who was admitted with serious injuries, became aggressive while the doctor was examining him. He allegedly pushed the doctor, threw blood-stained cotton balls at her, and scratched her with his nails.

The incident has sparked outrage among the medical community, with Dr. Akshay More, a member of the Maharashtra Association of Resident Doctors (MARD), condemning the attack. “The patient had come to the hospital drunk and was accompanied by seven to eight companions. The lady doctor was examining him when he started abusing her and the security guard was called,” Dr. More said.

This incident highlights the growing concern of doctor safety in hospitals. Last week, another MARD doctor was chased by patients at 2 am while returning to the hostel.

The police have registered a case under the State Health Care Violence Prevention Act and are investigating the incident. The attack on the female doctor has raised questions about the safety of medical professionals in hospitals and the need for stricter measures to prevent such incidents.
