Properties to be released from auction process if 50% of dues are paid

Pimpri: The Property Tax Department of Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has issued a final notice to property tax defaulters, stating that 490 seized non-residential, industrial, and mixed-use properties will be auctioned on March 31, 2025, unless dues are partially cleared. Since December 2024, PCMC has been carrying out strict recovery measures against defaulters with outstanding property tax.

Earlier, a total of 1,057 non-residential, industrial, and mixed-use properties were attached. Out of these, 567 property owners cleared their full dues, following which their properties were unsealed and returned to their possession. A public notice regarding the remaining 490 properties was published in all leading city newspapers on March 20.

Since the announcement, 12 property owners have paid Rs 63 lakh, and another 24 have paid Rs 38 lakh in part. Notably, 11 of these properties were exempted from the auction process after the respective owners paid more than 50% of their outstanding dues. In total, 36 property owners have paid over Rs 1 crore since the auction notice was published.

As of now, 467 properties remain eligible for auction. PCMC has clarified that if any property owner with more than Rs 2 lakh in outstanding dues pays at least 50% of their total dues before March 31, their property will be excluded from the auction and will be unsealed.

PCMC has attached 1,057 non-residential, industrial, commercial, and mixed-use properties so far, with Rs 26 crore in pending tax dues. Of this, Rs 11 crore has already been recovered from 567 defaulters. The remaining 490 properties, with dues amounting to nearly Rs 15 crore, are slated for auction by March 31. Additionally, PCMC is in the final stage of seizure for more properties with Rs 69 crore in outstanding tax, which will also be auctioned before March 31.

“PCMC has already recovered nearly Rs 11 crore through property attachments. However, Rs 15 crore is still pending from 490 property owners.
