On the morning of July 30th, a distressing incident occurred at the Sambhaji Udyan Aquarium in Pune when a fire broke out in one of the fish tanks.

According to Nilesh Mahajan, the spokesperson for the Central Fire Station, of Pune Municipal Corporation, the fire incident was reported at 8:54 am. Upon arrival at the scene, the fire brigade dispatched Kasba and Erandwane fire engines to find that two air conditioning units at the rear of the fish tank had caught fire.

The walls, made of foam and fiber, caused a significant amount of smoke to be emitted. Firefighters equipped with breathing apparatus promptly brought the blaze under control in approximately fifteen minutes. They used an exhaust blower to disperse the smoke effectively. As of now, the cause of the fire and the extent of the financial loss remain uncertain. The fire resulted in the destruction of two AC units, wiring, and other materials, but fortunately, there were no casualties or injuries reported.

Kamlesh Chaudhary, a Fire officer from PMC Kasba Fire Department, stated, “On the night of July 30th, two ACs caught fire. When we reached the scene, the fire was on the verge of spreading further. Due to the foam and fiber walls of the aquarium, a substantial amount of smoke was generated. The cause of the fire is yet to be determined. However, we successfully extinguished the fire last night itself, and no casualties or injuries occurred.”
