Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s imminent visit to Pune, the city’s residents, known as Punekars, have reason to rejoice as exciting new fare structures and discounts for Pune Metro tickets are set to be inaugurated on August 1. These measures are aimed at encouraging more people to opt for the metro as their preferred mode of transportation.

Vinod Agarwal, the Director (Systems & Operations) of Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited, revealed the details of the upcoming metro launch during a press conference. According to Agarwal, the revised ticket prices for various metro routes will offer affordability and convenience for commuters:

New Ticket Prices:

  • The fare for traveling from Civil Court Metro Station to Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) Metro Station will be Rs 20.
  • For a journey between Vanaz Metro Station and Ruby Hall Metro Station, the ticket price will be Rs 25.

The new pricing structure ensures that ticket rates for all Pune Metro stations will fall within the range of Rs 10 to Rs 35, making it more accessible to a broader segment of the population.

In addition to the revised ticket prices, Pune Metro is also introducing attractive discounts to incentivize metro usage and reduce reliance on private vehicles:

Discount Offers:

  • A substantial 30% discount will be extended to Punekars on metro tickets, encouraging them to prefer the metro over personal vehicles for daily commuting.
  • Students will be delighted to avail themselves of a generous 30% discount on metro tickets for any day of the week.
  • Regular commuters who use an Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) card will be eligible for a commendable 10% discount on their metro fares.

With these progressive measures set to be inaugurated on August 1, Pune Metro aims to bolster the appeal of metro travel as a convenient and cost-effective mode of daily transportation for the city’s residents.
