Fire Erupts During ‘Bhasma Aarti’ Ritual At Mahakaal Temple In Ujjain, 14 Injured

A tragic incident occurred during the Holi celebrations at the Mahakal Temple in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, as a fire broke out in the sanctum sanctorum during the Bhasma Aarti ceremony on Monday morning. 

According to District Collector Neeraj Kumar Singh, the fire ignited while the Bhasma Aarti ritual, involving holy ash, was being performed.

Reports indicate that 14 people sustained injuries in the fire that engulfed the ‘garbhagriha’ of the temple. The injured have been promptly admitted to the District Hospital in Ujjain for medical treatment.

The occurrence of this fire during the auspicious Holi celebrations has left the devotees and local community deeply saddened. Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire and ensuring necessary measures are taken to prevent such incidents in the future.
