The Pune forest department has arrested five individuals for poaching a wild boar in the Wadgaon Maval area. The accused are Maruti Shitole, Satyawan Bhoir, Datta Waghmare, Sanjay Waghmare, and Sitaram Jadhav.

According to forest officials, the arrests occurred near New English School on the Old Pune-Mumbai highway. A special squad acted on a tip-off regarding the poaching and trafficking of the animal. During the operation, officials seized a Scorpio car, goods valued at ₹6 lakh, and the meat of the wild boar.

The accused have been charged under the Wildlife Protection Act of 1972. Following their arrest, they were presented in a session court, which has placed them in judicial custody until October 10. 

The forest department has emphasized the importance of protecting wildlife and taking strict action against poaching. Investigations are ongoing as officials work to gather more information on the case.

This incident highlights the ongoing issues of wildlife crime in the region and the efforts of the forest department to combat it. The case serves as a reminder of the legal consequences for those involved in illegal activities against wildlife.
