Flights & trains delayed as fog engulfs parts of Delhi

On Saturday morning, the national capital experienced moderate to dense fog, although visibility improved in various areas, as reported by the India Meteorological Department (IMD). 

Safdarjung, Delhi’s primary weather station, recorded a visibility of 200 meters, while the Ridge area reported 500 meters of visibility.

Train services were impacted due to fog for the fourth straight day with 30 Delhi-bound trains delayed.

The minimum temperature in Delhi was recorded at 11.8 degrees Celsius, five notches above the season’s average, IMD said.

Train services were impacted due to fog for the fourth straight day with 30 Delhi-bound trains delayed. Around 80 flights were delayed on the morning of December 30 at Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi due to unfavourable weather conditions until 8:30 am. 

The IMD reported that the minimum temperature in Delhi was 11.8 degrees Celsius, which is five notches above the season’s average. On Friday, the maximum temperature in Delhi was 19.8 degrees Celsius, which is a notch below the season’s average.

According to an advisory issued by the IMD for Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, north Rajasthan, and north Madhya Pradesh, fog may affect visibility at some airports, highways, and railway routes.
