Heavy rainfall has led to widespread disruptions in the city, with waterlogging in riverside homes and low-lying areas. Approximately 4,500 residents living in hazardous areas have been relocated to safe locations by the municipal corporation. Rescue operations continued late into the night. After the floodwaters receded, municipal teams cleaned the streets and surrounding areas, removing silt and debris, according to Commissioner and Administrator Shekhar Singh.

In Zone A, rescue operations were carried out in areas like Samrat Chowk, Lal Topi Nagar, Bhatnagar, Pimpri River Road, Ramnagar, and others, relocating around 850 citizens to Pimpri schools, Ambedkar Colony, Mevani Hall, and Niradhar Hall.

In Zone B, rescue efforts in Chinchwad’s Tanaji Nagar, Kalewadi’s Pawan Nagar, Ravet’s Sameer Lawns, Shinde Wasti Road, Jadhav Ghat, and surrounding areas resulted in the relocation of 200 citizens to a primary school in Kalewadi, 70 citizens to the Municipal Corporation’s Chapekar School, Urdu School, and Bhoil Hall, and 150 citizens to the new primary school building in Walhekarwadi.

Zone D witnessed rescue operations in Laxminagar, Pawar Wasti, Bhumkar Wasti, Chonde Ghat, Teacher’s Society, Laxmi Colony, Om Shiv Colony, Dattamandir Road, Pimple Gurav, Bhujbal Wasti, Wakad, and surrounding areas, relocating 230 citizens to safe locations.

In Zone E, Ramnagar and Bopkhel experienced three to four feet of water in 20 to 25 houses. Rescue operations relocated about 170 citizens to the municipal primary school in Bopkhel.

Zone F’s areas like Gharkul, Shriram Colony, Talwade, Defence Colony, Patil Nagar, Chikhli, and others saw water removal from homes, with 25 citizens relocated to nearby vacant flats.

In Zone G, rescue efforts were carried out in Sanjay Gandhi Nagar, Ambedkar Nagar, Subhash Nagar, Valmiki Ashram, Pavana Nagar, Jagtap Nagar, and other areas, relocating 523 citizens to Kamala Nehru School in Pimpri, 550 citizens to Rahatani School, 110 citizens to Thergaon School, and 55 citizens to Vivekananda Boxing Hall.

Zone H saw rescue operations in Hirabai Slum, Kasarwadi, Bharat Nagar, Phugewadi, Dapodi’s Mulanagar, Madhuban Society, and Old Sangvi, relocating 200 citizens to the Urdu School in Kasarwadi, 300 citizens to the Meenatai Thackeray Municipal School, 250 citizens to the Hutatma Bhagat Singh Municipal School in Dapodi, and 350 citizens to the Punyashlok Ahilyadevi Holkar School in Old Sangvi. Control teams remain deployed at various locations, continuing rescue operations.

As the water receded, municipal teams cleaned blocked chambers, cleared silt from roads, removed debris and silt from riversides using JCBs, and disinfected various areas, while also providing food and other necessities at shelters. Major efforts included cleaning areas like Bopkhel School, parts of Moshi, Gharkul, Pimple Gurav, Old Sangvi, and Bopodi Road.

In response to the emergency, funds amounting to 40 lakh rupees have been allocated, with each regional office receiving 5 lakh rupees. Commissioner Shekhar Singh issued separate orders for this. Additional Commissioner Chandrakant Indalkar informed that the funds were provided immediately to handle the emergency, arrange meals, and implement necessary measures to control the flood situation.
