Food courts to become a reality in PCMC soon!

A proposal regarding the same was presented by PCMC commissioner Rajesh Patil and the same was approved in the standing committee meeting and PCMC meeting.

The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation has decided to allow food courts in private spaces in the city, in order to cater to the needs of the increasing population.

Public in PCMC have also been demanding more facilities and this news is sure to make them happy.

A proposal regarding the same was presented by PCMC commissioner Rajesh Patil and the same was approved in the standing committee meeting and PCMC meeting.

This is a welcome decision as it will bring down the number of encroachments by food stalls at various places in the city, opine residents.
 Many also feel that there is be improvement in food quality and the surroundings will also remain clean. Food courts with clean drinking water and washroom facilities will be appreciated by the public, say officers.

PCMC has laid down a set of rules for food court operation. They are –
1. The promoter and the builder can start food courts in their private spaces.
2. Fifty percent of the open space must be kept for the parking of vehicles.
3. Providing drinking water and washroom facilities is a must in these food courts.
4. The open space should be atleast 2 thousand square meters
5. Each food stall should be a minimum of 3 meter * 3 meter or a maximum of 10 meter * 10 meter in size.
6. Each stall should keep at least 1 meter distance from another.
7. The construction of these stalls should not be permanent.
8. Each stall should pay Rs 10 per square meter to the corporation.
9. The stall owners should make arrangements to disposal of waste. There must be a drainage facility for water.
10. Required permissions and licences should be obtained before starting the food stall.
11. Fire safety precautions must be taken at these food courts.
12. Food courts created in below Blue Flood Line Zone and parking facility will be on temporary basis. All temporary sheds should be removed before monsoon. An approach road of 6 meters wide is a must. Other NOCs are not required. It is a must to obtain NOC from drainage department before starting up the food stall. PCMC will provide sample designs of food stalls and developers can choose from them.
