Pune: The administration has decided to ban heavy vehicles on the Mumbai Pune Expressway on the day of Ganapati Visarjan. As per information, the ban is from the midnight of September 27 to the midnight of September 29. Along with this, it has been decided to stop the traffic of heavy vehicles on the Mumbai-Goa highway on the day of immersion. A notice has been issued that the traffic of vehicles weighing 16 tonnes or more on National Highway No 66 will be completely closed from 8 a.m. on September 28 to 8 p.m. on September 29.

This precaution has been taken by the administration as Ganapati Visarjan and Eid is falling on the same day. In the wake of Anant Chaturthi (Ganpati immersion) and Eid, the entry of heavy vehicles has been banned on the Pune-Mumbai Yashwantrao Chavan Expressway and the same order has been issued. Access to Mumbai city, Navi Mumbai and Thane from NH 48 i.e. old Mumbai-Pune highway on the expressway has been banned. As both the festivals fall on the same day, lakhs of devotees throng the streets here.

All essential roads will be closed for the upcoming 2 to 3 days. Therefore, closing the traffic of heavy vehicles coming from outside on this day will help to avoid traffic congestion. Traffic on important roads in Pune has been banned since September 16 and the police have appealed to drivers to use alternative routes. But since Anant Chaturdashi and Eid are on the same day, the administration has put a ban on heavy vehicles.
