Pune: On the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi, it has been announced that banks in several states will remain closed. Bank holidays will be observed on September 18, 19, and 20 in different locations.

In observance of Siddhi Vinayaka Vrat/Vinayaka Chaturthi, banks in Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, and Telangana will remain closed on September 18. Similarly, banks in Ahmedabad, Belapur, Bhubaneswar, Mumbai, Nagpur, and Panaji will remain closed on September 19.

Furthermore, in Bhubaneswar and Panaji, banks will remain closed. While on 20 September, banks will remain closed on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi (2nd day)/Nuakhai in Bhubaneswar and Panaji.

This occasion holds a special significance as it pertains to the veneration of Bappa, who is revered as the deity of knowledge, prosperity, and good fortune.

Bappa is also known by various names, including Gajanan, Vinayak, Ekadant, and Vakratund. According to the Hindu calendar, the Ganesh Chaturthi festival commences on the Shukla Chaturthi of the Bhadrapada month and lasts for a period of ten days. During this time, devotees bring Bappa to their homes on Ganesh Chaturthi and bid farewell to him on Anant Chaturdashi.
