Pune: The Ganesh immersion procession concluded at approximately 3 pm on Friday marking the immersion of the Ganesh idol of the last Ganesh Mandal in Pune.

This year’s immersion procession showcased grand divine scenes accompanied by drums and tashas, providing a glimpse into Maharashtrian culture.

As per information, just like every year, a huge crowd gathered on Laxmi Road and Tilak Road to witness the procession. A total of 2,905 Ganesh mandals participated in this year’s Ganesh Visarjan procession. The first immersion of Ganapati commenced at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, following the route from Laxmi Road, Kumthekar Road, and Tilak Road.

The first revered Ganpati, Kasba Ganapati, was the first to immerse, followed by the immersion of other revered Ganpati idols such as Tambadi Jogeshwari, Guruji Talim, Tulsibagh, and Kesariwada Ganapati. Later, Dagdusheth Halwai Ganpati was immersed. This year, the Mandal successfully completed the immersion within a span of five hours, a notable achievement. It was announced a month prior that the Mandal would participate in the afternoon procession for immersion. In previous years, the duration of the immersion processions varied as follows:

2016: 28 hours 30 minutes

2017: 28 hours 05 minutes

2018: 27 hours 15 minutes

2019: 24 hours

2022: 31 hours

2023: 28 hours 40 minutes

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there were no processions in 2020 and 2021.
