PMC to help fast-track the case by filing affidavits in High Court.

Residents staying on Phulmala road and Bakori road heaved a sign of relief as PMC additional commissioner Kunal Khemnar told residents that PMC will be filing affidavits in High Court to become parties and help in fast-tracking the case.

There are many complaints from the area. There is only an eight-metre road, instead of a 20 metre road and farmers claim that builders have not given them compensation for constructing the 20-metre-road.

Though the road was constructed by Zilla Parishad and now, Wagholi comes under Pune Municipal Corporation. So, residents now want the civic body to take charge and solve the problem for the benefit of close to 10,000 people living on either side of the road.

The projects on both roads have been sanctioned by Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority ( PMRDA)

“Initially, the builder had said that a 20-metre-approach road will be built from Nagar road to Bakori village and based on this, various projects were created. When the construction of the road started, farmers objected and said that the builder had not paid compensation and they had not handed over the road to the builder. Farmers filed a case in 2018 and the High Court stayed the construction of the road. Phulmala road also faces a similar problem,” explained Sanjivkumar Patil from Wagholi Housing Society Association (WHSA).

On Thursday, members of the Wagholi Housing Society Association met Khemnar and explained the problem to him and he said he would help residents find a solution.

Nitin Kumar Jain, a member from WHSA said “Additional Commissioner sir (Kunal Khemnar) said they would file affidavits in the High Court for both Phulmala and Bakori road cases to become a party and help in fast-tracking them. We have shared the litigation files for both the cases with him.”

Kunal Khemnar, additional commissioner, PMC said, “We will file affidavits in the High Court, become a party and try to fast track the procedure. We don’t want farmers or residents to suffer. We will try to find such a solution.”

Various other issues like garbage pickup, road conditions, drainage system, encroachments, electricity and covid vaccination were also discussed during the meeting.

A total of 700 residents has responded to the google forms shared by WHSA to list out issues of their locality.
