Dog owners in PCMC to note….

The veterinary department of PCMC will issue a dog license upon the owner’s request.

Pune:

Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation has started issuing dog licence from Thursday, said commissioner Rajesh Patil and urged pet owners within the limits of PCMC to make use of the online facility. The corporation is providing various facilities online for the benefit of the residents. The civic body is also providing dog shelters, apart from providing medical treatment.

As per government rule, dogs should not be kept as a pet without obtaining a license. The veterinary department of PCMC will issue a dog license upon the owner’s request.

Though the facility is now available online, the dog owner can also come to office in person to complete the process.

At present only 450 pet dog licenses have been issued by the department and to make the process faster and effective, the online facility has been activated.

The legal term of the online license shall be one year from the date of receipt. It will be mandatory to renew the license every year, said officials concerned.

License will be issued subject to the terms and conditions, after the fee payment as fixed from time to time.

As per rules, the pet owner must carry the license with him and produce it on demand. The pet owner shall not let the dogs loose in public places or on the streets. In terms of public health and environment, the license holder should ensure that his dog does not create any kind of nuisance, otherwise the dog owner will be fined up to five hundred rupees.
