Goods Train Derails in New Delhi, 10 Wagons Damaged

A goods train transporting rolls of iron sheeting derailed near the Zakhira region of Delhi, causing damage to approximately ten wagons. Emergency services from the fire department and the railway promptly responded to the incident to initiate rescue operations. The All India Trinamool Congress criticized the government and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for the mishap.

In a statement posted on their official handle, TMC expressed disappointment over the recurrence of train accidents, citing the recent Balasore incident. They highlighted today’s derailment near the Sarai Rohilla Railway in Delhi, emphasizing the potential risks involved. The train, carrying BHPL-CDG freight from Mumbai to Chandigarh, derailed close to the Jakhira flyover on the Patel Nagar-Daya Basti stretch. Fortunately, there have been no reported casualties so far.

According to Delhi Police, the derailment occurred at 11:52 a.m., with the initial report received regarding the incident near the Zakhira Flyover.
