Google Increases prices of Youtube Premium plans in India: New rates and benefits explained
YouTube has announced a significant increase in Premium subscription prices in India, ranging from 12 to 58 percent across different plans. According to information, this is the first time that the plans have undergone an adjustment since the service was introduced in the country in 2019.
In an email to subscribers, YouTube stated, “To continue delivering great service and features, we’re increasing your price to Rs 299 monthly. We don’t make these decisions lightly, and this update will allow us to continue to improve Premium and support the creators and artists you watch on YouTube.”
Details of price increase
The news initially surfaced on social media, thanks to X (formerly Twitter) user @MrSahilBawa, who shared a screenshot of a notification from YouTube. The platform has revealed that the Family plan will see the highest increase, with its price rising by 58 percent to ₹299 per month from ₹189. The individual plan will now cost ₹149 per month, up 15.5 percent from ₹129. The student plan has also seen a price rise to ₹89 per month, up 12.7 percent from ₹79.
