An SUV driver relying on Google Maps for navigation found himself in a peculiar situation when his vehicle ended up stuck on a flight of stairs in Gudalur, a hill town in Tamil Nadu.
The incident occurred as the man, accompanied by friends, was returning from Gudalur to Karnataka after spending the weekend in the town. Gudalur, situated at the tri-junction of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Karnataka, is a popular holiday destination, often frequented by tourists heading to Ooty.
The mishap unfolded as Google Maps directions led the driver through the Police quarters, which the navigation application claimed to be the ‘fastest route’.
However, this route unexpectedly directed them to a steep flight of stairs in a residential area. With no way to proceed, the SUV was halted on the stairs, prompting the driver to seek assistance.
Residents and local police came to the rescue, assisting the group in maneuvering the SUV back to the main road. Despite the unexpected detour, the group eventually continued their journey back to Karnataka.
